Pondering on the Here and Now

Lazy doing nothing on a November evening

What an alien Society we live in right now! People walking bent over their smart phones, connected at all times to a world that does not exist - to a big brother to whom they donate hours and hours of their precious time – passing on all the information about their lives ...

Everyone doing a thousand things at once - listening to music while checking the weather forecast on line, writing a report on the stock market in America and having a little chuckle whilst reading a funny comment on Facebook ..... doing so many things but nothing deliberately, nothing with your soul. How can you if you are not present? It means not being able to really concentrate on anything, not ever listening properly, it means not distinguishing the digital world from reality. What is reality for these people then? They are never anywhere at any time.

The mental images we create from our imagination, our perceptions and sensations that we gain from nature and the world of here and now .... where will they end up? What will happen to this world where children are already using tablets and iPads at the age of one, where all the toys they play with are on a flat screen, kids who will not learn handwriting at school because everything has become digital? What will they be like in ten years time?

People expect everything straight away, no more lingering and contemplating... surely we all know that desire is fruit of waiting! If you do not consciously want something, then you do not choose it. We live in a society where one slides from one situation to another without questioning whether it is in fact in line with what we actually want. Will is the core Living, the motivation, thing thing that moves us forward. Look slowly at everything around you... ponder on the things that happen and that do not happen. Remember to really exist, remember to be present to yourself and to others. Take part in life, with your mind and body: run out into the rain and feel the water pouring down onto your face, soaking your hair ...

Life is made of these little things and big emotions!

Recognize that who you are on social media doesn't count. Maybe we should love each other a little more ... certainly we should think a lot more - it is not with a click, or a like that things progress. We are not names on a screen we are people to be discovered.

Getting to know ourselves comes from that spiritual moment in which we do nothing. Doing nothing, unthinkable today ... Doing nothing and finding yourself alone, without music, without the imaginary friends of Facebook, without knowing everything that's happening in every moment. Even feeling alone, lonely, feeling afraid of the emptiness and silence. It is only in silence that everything can be found, a void where everything can be, where we can start again, where all our absurd stories lose importance. Where we can finally find inspiration, illumination, revelation, breathing slowly, listening carefully, touching delicately, smelling softly and tasting leisurely the true reality around us ... which is really so so beautiful.
